Sud<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><b>NEW YORK MICROSCOPICAL SOCIETY <\/b><b>ERNST ABBE AWARD<br class=\"none\" \/><\/b>Symposium on Atomic Force Microscopy Infrared Spectroscopy <br class=\"none\" \/><i>organized with the New York <\/i><i>Conservation Foundation<\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Dr. Alexandre Dazzi<\/strong> has a research program focused on nanoscale IR Spectroscopy, a technique that he invented. \u00a0Specific research objectives including applying the technique to solve interesting problems in microbiological and cellular imaging, while simultaneously pushing the limits of the technique itself.\u00a0 He obtained his Ph.D. in Physics in 1998 at the Universit\u00e9 de Dijon, and did post-doctoral work at the Centre de Recherch\u00e9 Paul Pascal at Bordeaux. \u00a0This training gave him a solid background in near field optics techniques. \u00a0In 2000 Dr. Dazzi took an associate professor position at the CLIO FEL facility, where he worked on near-field techniques in the infrared region. \u00a0After initially focusing on infrared Scanning Near-field Optical Microscopy (SNOM), Dr. Dazzi invented a technique called Photothermal Induced Resonance (PTIR) that enables an AFM probe to act as a detector that can provide information on infrared spectroscopy at the nanoscale. \u00a0This patented technique has been commercialized by Anasys Instruments in its nanoIR product. \u00a0Dr. Dazzi received his habilitation in October 2008 and was the 2009 laureate for France&#8217;s national instrumentation prize from the Societ\u00e9 Francaise Division de Chimie Physique. \u00a0He was also associated with R&amp;D 100 awards in 2010 and the Microscopy Today 2011 Innovation Award for the nanoIR<sup>TM<\/sup>.\u00a0 He also teaches nanoscience at the Universit\u00e9 Paris-Sud.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NEW YORK MICROSCOPICAL SOCIETY ERNST ABBE AWARDSymposium on Atomic Force Microscopy Infrared Spectroscopy organized with the New York Conservation Foundation Dr. Alexandre Dazzi [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":"","_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-2485","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-info"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/eas.org\/2024\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/2485"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/eas.org\/2024\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/eas.org\/2024\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/eas.org\/2024\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/eas.org\/2024\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=2485"}],"version-history":[{"count":6,"href":"https:\/\/eas.org\/2024\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/2485\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":5501,"href":"https:\/\/eas.org\/2024\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/2485\/revisions\/5501"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/eas.org\/2024\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=2485"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/eas.org\/2024\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=2485"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/eas.org\/2024\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=2485"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
