{"id":4604,"date":"2017-01-10T09:10:51","date_gmt":"2017-01-10T14:10:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/easinc.org\/wordpress\/?p=4604"},"modified":"2018-02-12T10:19:31","modified_gmt":"2018-02-12T15:19:31","slug":"message-eas-president","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eas.org\/2024\/message-eas-president\/","title":{"rendered":"Message from the EAS President"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_4606\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4606\" style=\"width: 144px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/eas.org\/2024\/2020\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Justin-photo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4606\" src=\"https:\/\/eas.org\/2024\/2020\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Justin-photo.jpg\" alt=\"Justin Pennington 2017 EAS President\" width=\"144\" height=\"144\" srcset=\"https:\/\/eas.org\/2024\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Justin-photo.jpg 144w, https:\/\/eas.org\/2024\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Justin-photo-85x85.jpg 85w, https:\/\/eas.org\/2024\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Justin-photo-75x75.jpg 75w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 144px) 100vw, 144px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4606\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Justin Pennington<br \/>2017 EAS President<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The year 2017 begins a new journey for EAS with our move to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ihg.com\/crowneplaza\/hotels\/us\/en\/plainsboro\/ttnpl\/hoteldetail\/events-facilities#scmisc=nav_events-facilities_cp\">Crowne Plaza Princeton &#8211; Conference Center<\/a> in Plainsboro, NJ.\u00a0 We are very grateful for the past 25 years in Somerset, have many fond memories of the times we spent, and truly are appreciative of the consistency it afforded.\u00a0\u00a0 However, over the past few years we have\u00a0consistently\u00a0heard feedback from our exhibitors and conferees that the\u00a0facility\u00a0no longer met the needs for EAS and that there was a desire to have the symposium under one roof.\u00a0 It has been years in the making and we are very excited\u00a0 to have identified the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ihg.com\/crowneplaza\/hotels\/us\/en\/plainsboro\/ttnpl\/hoteldetail\/events-facilities#scmisc=nav_events-facilities_cp\">Crowne Plaza Princeton-Conference Center<\/a> which will allow us to have the entirety of the symposium (Exposition, Technical Program, and Short Courses) under one roof in a modern updated facility. \u00a0\u00a0Our hope is that there will be an increase in the level of interactions between conferees, speakers, exhibitors, and short course attendees.\u00a0\u00a0 Please make sure to let everyone know about our change of venue.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The theme for EAS this year is \u201cBuilding our Analytical Future\u201d and hopefully you will\u00a0recognize\u00a0our desire to continue building Eastern\u00a0Analytical\u00a0Symposium into the\u00a0premier\u00a0analytical\u00a0symposium.\u00a0 The theme design revolves around a blueprint, and as such, we are designing our program to offer a \u201cblueprint\u201d to the future of both EAS and analytical\u00a0science\u00a0as a whole.\u00a0 Our Plenary lecture\u00a0on Monday\u00a0will be given by our 2017 EAS Award for Outstanding Achievements in the Fields of Analytical Chemistry, Prof. Janusz Pawliszyn from the\u00a0University\u00a0of Waterloo. \u00a0 The lecture is open to all registered EAS attendees and all are\u00a0encouraged\u00a0to attend. Our Awards\u00a0committee, led by Cecil Dybowski,\u00a0is continuing the tradition of presenting awards to distinguished leaders in multiple areas of the analytical disciplines.\u00a0 The invited program is taking shape <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/eas.org\/2024\/2020\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/EAS-Invited-Sesssion-as-of-Apr-17.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>(click here for list of invited sessions)<\/em><\/span><\/a><\/span> and we encourage everyone to submit their oral and poster presentations for consideration. \u00a0 As you have come to expect, EAS 2017 will continue to offer an impressive assortment of\u00a0Short Courses, Workshops, and Exhibitors; <em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">download the preliminary program<\/span><\/span><\/em> for more details.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">We hope that you will take the opportunity to build your analytical future alongside Eastern Analytical Symposium.
