Professor Kurt Wüthrich
is a Swiss chemist/biophysicist and Nobel Chemistry laureate, known for developing Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) methods for studying biological macromolecules. Prof. Wüthrich is a Cecil H. and Ida M. Green Professor of Structural Biology at the Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla, CA, USA and a Professor of Biophysics at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zürich), Zürich, Switzerland.  In 2002 Professor Wüthrich was awarded Nobel Prize in Chemistry “for his development of nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy for determining the three-dimensional structure of biological macromolecules in solution.”  His specialty is nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy with biological macromolecules, where he contributed the NMR method of three-dimensional structure determination of proteins and nucleic acids in solution.  Kurt Wüthrich’s achievements have been recognized by the Prix Louis Jeantet de Médecine, the Kyoto Prize in Advanced Technology, the Nobel Prize in Chemistry, and by a number of other awards and honorary degrees.
