Attendees traveling with a large poster carrier tube will soon be a thing of the past. Technology is coming to poster presentations. EAS will be switching to electronic posters (ePosters) for the 2018 symposium.

What’s an ePoster? Our colleague Justin Pennington gave us a demo the other day. The poster is displayed on a large TV screen instead of being printed on paper and pinned to a poster board. The effect was quite pleasant and the info was easy to read; there is the option to zoom in and out.

Electronic posters at the 2018 EAS will be static only, basically only skipping the printing step. In the future, we can envision that new options will open up beyond simply displaying text and graphs or photos. One can imagine starting a video right from the poster or zooming in on a graph to display it in greater details. The presentation can become much more interactive and fun.

For those of us new to the concept of ePosters, there are plenty of resources on the internet, including examples of ePosters, and poster templates. I found this article to be quite helpful in explaining the technology and providing ideas for content.
